BOMBINO

12/10 | EARTH THEATRE

“Few have wielded the guitar with such mastery and majesty” – The New York Times

After a six-year hiatus, Grammy-nominated maestro of the strings, Bombino, is poised to ignite the stage at London’s stunning Earth Theatre.

Born amidst the windswept sands of the nomadic Tuareg encampment Tidene, just outside Agadez, Niger, Bombino’s journey is a testament to resilience and musical mastery. Fleeing the tumult of political unrest in 1990, Bombino found solace in the universal language of music, drawing inspiration from the legendary sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straits, Ali Farka Touré, and Tinariwen.

With each album, Bombino transcends boundaries, crafting a sonic tapestry that defies categorisation. From the gritty elegance of Nomad to the hypnotic rhythms of Azel, Bombino’s artistry knows no bounds. His latest offering, Sahel, released in September 2023, stands as a poignant call for unity in the Sahel region, showcasing a breathtaking range from acoustic ballads to searing electric guitar tracks.

At Earth Theatre, Bombino will weave his musical magic, seamlessly blending the raw energy of Tuareg guitar with echoes of reggae, rock, and the soul-stirring melodies of the desert. As he takes the stage, audiences will embark on a transcendent journey, guided by Bombino’s unwavering mission to spread love, understanding, and the timeless beauty of Tuareg culture across the globe.
